Been here a few times, always try & get one of the comfy chairs by the window to people watch, service is good, toilets are clean, lattes are nice, had almond cake here which was huge
Not up to modern standards. Wuntu voucher was only for take away, so read T's & C's, several items we ordered they didn't have. Ale out of stock and 6 items of gluten free cakes in picture turned out to be a choice of 2. Was mainly grumpy that I was lured in with wuntu voucher and promise of gluten free choice.
If I could I would leave no stars as we couldn't eat anything due to their kitchen being closed at 3.55pm, which is funny as they don't officially close until 5pm. When asked why the kitchen was closed 1hr and 5minutes before they closed I was told it was due to cleaning. This is crazy! As a former chef, I know the rules of catering and hospitality, and this is not it. We would cook all the way up to closing time and then clean down. This is made worse as they do not cook anything anyway all pre made and warmed up. we only wanted a sandwich, but this was too much to ask for apparently. I asked If this rule of closing early was printed anywhere, as this is false advertising, and was told the closing was down to managers discretion. So overall, was greated rather rudely, lazy staff not willing to cater and dead atmosphere all round. If you are looking for a cup of coffee and a sarny after Christmas shopping I would look elsewhere, as these guys may close there doors at 11am due to cleaning of a tea pot.
Definitely not a place to go if you are in a hurry as the service is extremely slow, but if you have plenty of time and don't mind reminding your waiter/waitress about your order every now and then, it is a nice place to spend a leisurely afternoon enjoying some good food and beverages. The staff are friendly and the seating quite comfortable. We had the afternoon tea for two, where 25 got us a nice selection of tasty sweet and savoury confections on a 3-tier stand, along with unlimited refills of tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The hot chocolate was especially nice, good and thick, chocolatey without being sickly sweet.
Booked afternoon tea for 4 people for a birthday treat took 5 minutes to seat.when we were seated we were brought dirty plate and a knife. When the food came the sandwiches were dry and very little filling in, when we complained we were told they are made in advanced which we were not happy about. The small cake selection was ok. Overall very disappointed. For the price you pay it was not worth the money.
